This is my personal view of God‘s revelation to humanity. Hopefully this is a clear statement about how I think God shows Himself to us as people. I am open for a healthy discussion about your view, and hope we can have fun talking it through! Please share your thoughts!
I believe that God has revealed a part of Himself to all people everywhere. This knowledge is intended to lead all people to a deeper understanding of God. This is called Special and General Revelation.
God has shown His existence to all humanity everywhere on the earth. All people are made aware of God’s existence through the creation of the world (Psalm 19:1-4), and through their own ability to distinguish right from wrong, which is human conscience (Romans 2:14-15). God gave this General understanding of Himself so that every person would search for God so that they could be restored to the relationship that God desires for everyone (Acts 17:27). He has revealed to everyone His power, glory, ability, nature, and authority (Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1-4). Therefore, everyone on earth has no excuse not to believe in God. The rejection of God’s existence is common, but unjustified. Everyone who rejects this knowledge will be punished by the wrath of God who will judge all people by their own deeds (Rom 1:18; 2:5). However, those that accept and embrace the knowledge of God will be awarded with the understanding of the redemptive work of Christ.
I believe that no one can be saved without placing his or her faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Heb. 11:1). Special Revelation is the unveiling of God’s redemptive work through the man Jesus Christ (1 Tim 3:16). Through Jesus, every person can find forgiveness for their past sins, and redemption to spend eternal life with Him (Eph. 1:7; 1 John 1:9). I believe God uses His Word (The Bible) as the primary method to communicate this special revelation (2 Peter 1:21). The Lord will use many avenues to lead people to salvation, such as: visions, words of faith, miracles, signs and wonders. However no other revelation will ever contradict the written Word (Psalm 119:89).
